Brentuximab Vedotin Beats Standard Chemo as Frontline Hodgkin Lymphoma Treatment

This large phase 3 clinical trial tested whether substituting brentuximab vedotin (an antibody-drug conjugate targeting CD30) for bleomycin in standard chemotherapy could improve outcomes for patients newly diagnosed with advanced classical Hodgkin lymphoma. The primary measure was modified progression-free survival. Sponsored by Takeda and conducted across multiple centers, the trial is now completed. Results have informed a shift in frontline treatment strategy for this cancer, with A+AVD emerging as a preferred option for eligible patients with stage III or IV Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly those at higher risk of disease progression.
